Activity 1

Build musical instruments
Independently

Thick paper straws (10 per pupil), scissors (1 pair per pupil), masking tape, play dough, ruler

Give each child the material they need to make their own pan flute and read out the instructions.

Activity 2

Play as an orchestra
In a circle
10 min.

Teacher:

"You can now try to play your handmade pan flute. See if you can create a wind sound."

Select one child to act as the conductor and lead the group.

Teacher:

"How do you think our conductor could show us how to play quietly (piano), loudly (forte), and how to get louder (crescendo) and quieter (decrescendo)?"
