Musik, Serious Gaming und Konzentrationsfähigkeit – mit der App entdecken die Kinder die Magie der klassischen Musik mit interaktiven Spielen.
Activity 1
Teacher:
"Lie on the floor and make yourself very small. As soon as you can hear the music play, start moving slowly. Stand up and move around the classroom. Listen carefully so that your movements follow the music."
Optional
Give each pupil a piece of fabric to hold in their hand as they move.
A1: 'Morning Mood' (play)
Teacher:
Tip
"Do you think it works well when people run around the classroom? Or does it work better to spin, jump or dance like a ballerina?"
Activity 2
M1: Draw to music (hand out to each pupil)
Teacher:
"Draw a picture inspired by the music you hear. Remember how you moved to the music, or think of a place or an object you can imagine while listening to the music."
A1: 'Morning Mood' (play as background music)
Note that the title of the piece of music has not been revealed yet.
Tip
Teacher: "Which colours do you think go well with the music? Blue, black and grey or yellow, orange and red? You can draw lines and shapes using your preferred colours and let the music guide your hand."
Activity 3
Teacher:
"When you’ve finished your drawing, try to think of a title for it and put it on display in the classroom."
All pupils lay out their pictures.
Teacher:
"Imagine you are now in an art gallery. Quietly walk around the room and look at all the drawings. Which pictures do you think go particularly well with the music we’ve heard and why?"
After children have looked at all the picture, ask: "Which drawings do you think go particularly well with the music we’ve heard and why? Do you have any questions about any of the pictures?"
If children want to, they can also present their own drawing to the class, reveal their title and share their thoughts.
Teacher:
"Lots of different pictures have been created while listening to the same music. Everyone can experience something different while listening to the same piece of music. There is no right or wrong answer. The piece of music we listened to while drawing was written by composer Edvard Grieg. He called it 'Morning Mood'. Do you have any idea why he might have chosen this title?"
Tip
Ask pupils to take good care of their drawings as they will need them again later on.
If there’s still time:
… the teacher can carry on with lesson 2 and make a start on the lap book.
… children can take a physical break (e.g. 15 jumping jacks, 10 squats, etc.). Show them the exercises first, then let them choose which moves they want to do.
Skills learned in this lesson:
Students…
… move freely and improvise gestures to the music. They then reflect on their experience.
… draw a picture inspired by the music they hear and describe their thoughts.
… give their picture a name and compare it to Morning Mood, the title of the piece of music they’ve heard.
… listen to Morning Mood and describe their own impressions of the music.
