Musik, Serious Gaming und Konzentrationsfähigkeit – mit der App entdecken die Kinder die Magie der klassischen Musik mit interaktiven Spielen.
Activity 1
Children sit in a circle. In the middle of the circle, lies one percussion instrument per child and each instrument is placed on a mat (or A4 colour sheet) - for larger classes, two instruments can be placed on one mat. One after the other children stand up, pick up an instrument of their choice and go back to their seat.
Teacher:
"One at a time, pick up an instrument and take it back to your seat. It’s very important that you remember which mat you took it from. Try out the instrument and listen to how it sounds. Then put it on the floor."
Once all students have picked up an instrument, say:
Teacher:
"Now, imagine that the mats are stars. I’m going to move from one star to the other in order to create my own starry sky soundtrack. Everytime I stand on the mat you took your instrument from, you should start playing. Make sure that you stop when I move to another mat."
Once children have understood the game, you can pick up individual pupils to dance across the floor and create their own starry sky soundtrack.
Optional
If there aren’t enough percussion instruments for everyone, children can play in groups. In each group, one student can play while the others tap their feet, snap their fingers or clap their hands.
Activity 2
Children sit in 4 groups in front of the screen, as if they were watching a movie at the cinema. Each group is assigned a colour (green, blue, yellow or red). Before playing the film, name the different colours one after the other, and let each group play their instruments at the right time.
Teacher:
"We are now going to watch a video of Mozart jumping through the starry sky. Every time Mozart lands on a star of your assigned colour, play your instrument as a group. Make sure you stop when he moves on to another colour."
The percussion video can be watched twice.
Activity 3
M1: Flip book cover (hand one out per pupil)
Teacher:
"Let me show you what the flip book we are going to create looks like. You can decorate the cover and cut it out following the lines. Take good care of your cover as we will need it again later."
A1: 'A Little Night Music' (play as musical background)
If there's still time...
… ask if pupils already know something about Mozart.
… children can take a physical break (e.g. 15 jumping jacks, 10 squats, etc.). Show them the exercises first, then let them choose which moves they want to do.
Skills learned in this lesson:
Students…
... play percussion instruments following specific instructions and agree on conducting gestures.
... follow simple graphic notation and play along to the first movement of 'A Little Night Music' using percussion instruments.
