Musik, Serious Gaming und Konzentrationsfähigkeit – mit der App entdecken die Kinder die Magie der klassischen Musik mit interaktiven Spielen.
Activity 1
Sit the class in a circle
Teacher:
'I start by clapping my hand once. The clap is then passed on to one student, and they pass on to another student. The aim is to keep each clap at a steady tempo'
After each round, we can think about which other sounds can be passed around in a steady tempo (meter), for example: stamping, slapping or clicking our fingers
Teacher:
'Let's chose a new sound, for example a slap on the thigh. This time, we won't automatically pass the slap around the circle, but wink at another child to signify their turn is next. Can we stay in rhythm?'
Here you can try out more rounds with other sounds
The teacher discusses with the class what worked well and what was challenging
Reflection questions
- Was it easy or difficult to stay in tempo?
- What helped you to stay in a regular tempo?
- Did you notice when the clap became faster or slower? How did you respond to this?
- Did it work to send a wink to signify the next turn? Why or why not?
- What was it like not knowing when your turn was next? Did you find it challenging?
- What strategies did you use to help you focus and know the right moment to pass the clap on?
Activity 2
Teacher:
'Now I'll play some music. Move through the room and try to move and stay in tempo to the music. Be careful not to disturb anyone else!'
To finish, the teacher and the class should reflect on whether they were able to move at the same tempo or whether there were different tempos in the room. Individual children can demonstrate their own movement tempo, should they wish.
Teacher:
'We are going to repeat the exercise. This time the meter of the music will help you adapt your tempo. I will give instructions in between for you to move half as fast as the meter.'
Activity 3
Teacher:
'Put yourselves in two rows and look at your partner. As soon as the music starts, pass on the meter by high-fiving each other one after the other.'
The teacher can prepare by watching the following video
Teacher:
'Form a circle and hold each other's hand. I will start the music and we will take turns taking four slow steps to the left and four slow steps to the right'
The teacher can prepare by watching the following video
If this works well, the class can be split up into two groups: one half carries out the first exercise whilst the other half do the second exercise at the same time. Then change the group roles around.
If there's still time...
... Activity 2 can be repeated. The teacher gives further instructions for the children to move twice as fast as the meter.
Skills learned in this lesson:
Students...
...recognise and keep the beat in the music
... move to the meter of the music and adapt their movements to new instructions
... use different body sounds (e.g. - clapping, slapping) in order to pass on the beat
... coordinate their movements in partner and group rhythms
... reflect on their understanding of meter and exchange their ideas with each other
